PvP Pew Pew Previews

The slick-looking mech shooter, Hawken, is said to be launching as a Free To Play / Pay game this 12/12/12. (Source: IGN)

You can 'enlist' for beta testing here if you'd like.

Hawken is a multiplayer mech combat game. The focus is on creating an intense and enjoyable battle experience that captures the feeling of piloting a heavy war machine while keeping the action fast-paced and strategic.

We have two unique team game modes, as well as team deathmatch and free-for-all deathmatch.

Could be an interesting year with F2P / FPS big guns like Tribes: Ascend, Firefall, PlanetSide 2 and some other dark horses looking to get you spending in their cyber stores. Arma III is looking pretty sexy in these screenshots from Rock, Paper, Shotgun. (That game looks like it would violently pull my computer's pants down and laugh hysterically at it's tiny, impotent peen).

Also, noticed this ~ Gettysburg: Armored Warfare is coming to Steam this March. (Source and some other links and such)

I'm not the biggest fan of shooter games in the world but these games look amazing, and you have to give a bright shiny gold star to the guys who thought "Fuck it, let's make a sci-fi steampunk Civil War era tactics 'n shooting game".
